Launch of 2Collab

Elsevier has developed and launched a new freely available research tool enabling researchers to share bookmarks, references or any linked material with their peers and collegues. 2collab has been integrated in Scopus through the "Bookmark"button and the "Add to 2collab" button in ScienceDirect.

Visit the 2collab website and observe, analyse, and learn how researchers use and tag scholarly data as a community.

View a short video on 2collab: Michiel van der Heyden, Senior Product Manager at ScienceDirect, introduces the tool and demonstrates how it works.

The Scopus Affiliation Identifier - Coming Soon!

Scopus continues to evolve to meet researchers' workflow needs, this time with the upcoming launch of the Scopus Affiliation Identifier, becoming the first tool to identify and match an institute with all its research output.

With the launch of the Affiliation Identifier end of April 2008, you and your end users will easily find all publications from a single institution in just a few minutes.

Using sophisticated algorithms, the Scopus Affiliation Identifier will increase the accuracy and speed of search results by automatically matching and de-duplicating institute and organization names. This is extremely useful because several name versions may exist or may be spelled or recorded differently by individual sources. An institute may also change its name or have a name similar to another institute. Articles published by The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, for example, currently carry more than 1,700 name variants.

Increasing Scopus Awareness

Towards the end of last year the Elsevier EMEA Team prepared an online quiz to institutions subscribing to Scopus. Researchers from 16 different countries were asked to fill in four questions using Scopus to find the answers. 13 iPod nanos and many CD gift vouchers were awarded to the winners that gave positive feedback on the campaign:
"It was a very easygoing way to learn how to use Scopus, which I have started to do."
"Indeed, I use Scopus since the Quiz much more often."
